GamingUpdateNews – February 13th

untitledLeft 4 Dead is driving me nuts right now and I’m stuck on Fracture again. By the way, there is going to be a review for Fracture coming out next week. Epic War 2 gave me an epic cramp in my left hand. Lets get into the headlines: more viral marketing for a game but do you really care anymore about this kind of advertising,  a Halo game without the Chief breaks records, Dead Space was supposed to come out on the Xbox, Microsoft opening stores soon, and Blizzard shows us some love.

More Viral Video Game Marketing

Recently, more and more gaming companies are using viral marketing to make fans excited. Whether there are mysterious countdowns or YouTube videos giving little details, viral marketing is in full effect in several different entertainment industries. After watching the following video realizing this is the 2nd video that I have seen like this in a month, there is no doubt this is the new wave of advertising. Blackrock Studios has come out with a lot of B and C list racing titles in the last 9 years. Let’s hope for a good game:

Halo Wars sets new Records

halowars_logoHalo has evolved from being a RTS game to being a FPS franchise going beyond all expectations then going back to a RTS. Ensemble Studios have brought the Halo series back to what Halo fans have been dreaming of. The history of the spartans when they were in battalions, but we aren’t talking about the game in particular. We are talking about statistics. Resident Evil 5 demo previously had the record at 1.8 million downloads, but Halo Wars took the title of most downloads for a demo with 2 million. As being a Halo fan, “w00t”.

Dead Space: The Xbox Edition

Dead Space was in development for a long time. Wanna know how long? It was going to come out on the orginal Xbox, but it just came out last year and the world loved it. I think EA wants you to go back and remind you to play it with this video that was just released.

Microsoft Stores coming Eventually

microsoft-storeMicrosoft plans to open its own stores despite the economic downturn that has left many retailers struggling. Microsoft’s timing may be off. The recession has socked the retail sector, and purveyors of electronics have been hit hard. Circuit City filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November and said in January that it would liquidate its 567 United States stores, cutting more than 34,000 jobs. Microsoft had no comment on the plight of Apple and the big-box stores, but said its own retail stores can help shoppers make smarter decisions about spending money on technology. Microsoft, don’t make this like the Sony stores.

Blizzard <3s you!

Now we know that Blizzard loves money, but now they want to act like they love the customers. Click here to check out full sized images of the images below:
