The LV. Cap: MLB 10 The Show Review

Post Rating

MLB 09: The Show was a huge success. Baseball had never been represented in such a realistic manner. So, let’s see if its successor can live up to hype it has garnered.

MLB 10: The Show
Playstation 3
Developer: SCE San Diego Studio
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
ESRB Rating: E for Everyone
Price: $59.99

Pros:
Graphics: The graphics look amazing. There is tremendous crowd detail. It’s a gorgeous game. Also when you create a player, the depth of options are mind boggling.

RTTS Mode:This is actually really fun and frustrating at the same time. RTTS mode actually gives you the feeling of a struggling player trying to make it to the big leagues. There is an option to “cheat” and buy attribute points from the PSN store. But, who would do that? FINE, I confess I bought attribute points because I wanted to make it to the show faster. The only problem I can’t get out of my contract. Bastard ass Rockies keep renewing it for one year when I refuse to sign.

Franchise Mode: My favorite mode in any game has always been the franchise mode. I love being in control of every little aspect of my team. The Show puts EVERYTHING in your hands. You even have to work in your schedule to put new sod on the field.

Gameplay: The most important part of any game is whether or not it’s fun to play. This game is fun to play. It has very few flaws. To date, this is best simulation baseball game ever made.

Cons:
Difficulty: This is a good and a bad thing. Since the game is so close to real life, it is hard. I have gotten all the way into the 6th inning with a perfect game going and someone magically lines one of my 102 MPH fastballs. Bastards.

Pitch Location: If my pitcher has a location rating of 99 then that particular pitch should land there 99% of the time. Sometimes, it doesn’t.

Verdict:
Anyone who is a fan of baseball and owns a PS3 should own this game. Complete the RTTS show legitimately and do it as different positions. And if you’re not a fan of baseball games, rent it anyway.
