UNSC Information Leak – Halo 3: ODST

Last Thursday, I was able to check out Halo 3: ODST and I’m still writing the impressions for the new Bungie game, but for those curious to check out what went down I have a preview video up. This leaked information that I got from a source in India hasn’t even hit the mainstream sites like Kotaku or VG247.com yet. With a gallery of 14 pictures including one from a cinematic, this article has information that will please any Xbox 360 fan; whether they like achievements or the Halo franchise. Lot’s of people that have played ODST are saying this is how Halo 3 should have been and how Halo 2 was originally going to be before the leak. The 1 question I have now is this: will ODST be different than any other Halo game?

The original Halo games all had something in common: they were linear. From the new narrative setup for ODST, you are going to be able to take the story one character at a time and then be able to bring them all together. With the city of New Mombassa emptied by the Covenant, there will most definitely be stealth sequences during the game since there will either be no or little assistance from AI characters. To help with this, the Administrator of the city will give you a map at the beginning of the game to help you travel through the dark terrain.

One new feature for ODST is the ‘Achievement Tracker’. In Gears of War 2 every time you got a kill towards a particular achievement, a little bar would show up showing the new status of the particular achievement. According to one of the pictures, this is confirmed and will help achievement whores rip through the game faster than ever before without having to flip open the Xbox 360 Blade system. Not being a leak since it was shown off during the E3 conference, ODST will feature a audio transcripts throughout the city similar to the computer consoles that would get you the ‘Marathon Man’ achievement from Halo 3.

With more information out on ODST, fans of the franchise will get even more excited for the release which is in less than 3 weeks. Get excited guys! This is going to be one hell of a gaming season this year!
